Electronic Signature Software

Electronic Signature Software enables individuals and organizations to sign and manage contracts digitally, in accordance with Japan’s Act on Electronic Signatures and Certification Business. These services reduce paperwork, streamline approval workflows, and preserve legal enforceability.

In Japan, electronic signatures are generally categorized into the following levels:

  • SES
Simple Electronic Signatures: Basic click-to-sign mechanisms with minimal verification. Convenient but with weaker legal strength.
  • AES
Advanced Electronic Signatures: Services with email or identity verification, audit trails, and timestamps. Sufficient for most business contracts.
  • QES
Qualified Electronic Signatures: Linked to government-issued digital IDs such as the MyNumber card. Legally equivalent to handwritten signatures but rarely used in the private sector.

Popular platforms in Japan support features like PDF signing, workflow templates, email notifications, and integration with enterprise tools such as HR or document management systems.
