Sakura Cloud Object Storage is a cloud-based storage service provided by Sakura Internet, one of Japan’s most well-established infrastructure providers. It offers scalable object storage for backups, logs, media, and other unstructured data, all hosted in domestic data centers.

The service supports S3-compatible APIs, allowing users to interact with it using familiar tools like aws-cli or rclone.

⚠️ As of February 2025, there is a known compatibility issue affecting certain versions of the S3 API. See Sakura’s announcement for details.

Data transfers between Sakura’s other cloud services (such as compute instances or CDN) and Object Storage are free of charge.

The web console and documentation are primarily in Japanese, but the service includes partial English translations, making it accessible to international teams operating in Japan.
