Geolonia Maps is a vector tile map API from Geolonia Inc., a Tokyo-based map startup. Built on OpenStreetMap data, it carries fewer commercial licensing restrictions than closed-source map providers. Printing, caching, and reuse of map data are allowed under open terms. Developers can register for free, pick a design template, and embed a map by adding a short HTML snippet.

Vector tiles give full control over map styling, including brand colors, label visibility, and level of detail. Geolonia also offers a separate address normalization API for cleaning up Japanese address strings, and displays national borders following Japanese government policy. Customer location data stays on the customer’s side and is not sent to the platform.
