SDPF Cloud is the infrastructure as a service (IaaS) part of Smart Data Platform from NTT DOCOMO Business, Inc. (formerly NTT Communications). Once named Enterprise Cloud 2.0, it targets large companies and the public sector.

One portal covers shared virtual servers, bare metal servers and dedicated hosts running VMware vSphere, Nutanix or Hyper-V, a fit for moving on-premises VMware or Nutanix systems. It also links to NTT DOCOMO Business networks, including Flexible InterConnect for private connections to AWS, Azure and Google Cloud.

Virtual servers are billed per minute with no minimum term. They restart automatically on healthy hardware if a physical server fails.

Prices, a price simulator and API references are public. New customers first have a sales representative open a Business Portal account, then order online and pay by invoice.

Multi-Region
Regions sit in East and West Japan. New customers can start in Tokyo, Saitama or Osaka, as older regions no longer take new sign-ups.

OpenStack API
Virtual servers run on OpenStack, open-source cloud software, and scripts can add, remove or resize them through OpenStack-compatible APIs.

ISMAP
In most regions, the service is registered under the Information system Security Management and Assessment Program (ISMAP), the Japanese government’s cloud security assessment.

S3
Wasabi object storage in Tokyo and Osaka works with Amazon S3-compatible tools.

GPU
GPU servers and a GPU-as-a-service menu support AI and other heavy computing.

10Gbps
Virtual servers get a 10 Gbps best-effort network interface, capped lower on some sizes.
