Sakura MailBox is a mail-only hosting plan from Sakura Internet, one of Japan’s longest-running hosting providers. It lets individuals and small businesses set up custom domain email without renting a full web server, with all data hosted in domestic data centers.

The service includes an AI-powered spam filter from Hornetsecurity that learns from a large pool of global email traffic. Virus scanning covers both incoming and outgoing messages. SPF, DKIM, ARC, and DMARC are all supported, helping prevent forged sender addresses and improving delivery to services like Gmail. A free trial is available.

Users can register a custom domain through Sakura Internet or bring one from another registrar. Multiple domains can be configured on the same server, and there is no limit on the number of email addresses.

A browser-based webmail interface is included, so users can check email from any device with just a login.

Both IMAP and POP3 are supported with encrypted connections, allowing use with standard desktop and mobile email clients.
