IIJ Domain Service is a domain registration service provided by Internet Initiative Japan (IIJ). It supports various domain types including organizational JP domains (.co.jp), general-use JP domains (.jp), as well as gTLDs such as .com, .net, .org, and .tokyo.

As an accredited registrar with JPRS (Japan Registry Services), IIJ ensures smooth registration and transfers from other providers. Optional features like web redirection are available, and security features such as DNSSEC are offered in conjunction with IIJ’s DNS platform service.

It is a highly reliable domain management service, well-suited for critical business applications.

Features

ALIAS
IIJ’s DNS Platform Service supports ALIAS-like functionality through the ANAME record, allowing users to point apex domains (e.g., example.jp) to hostnames. This makes it possible to use root domains with external services like CDNs or cloud platforms without violating DNS standards.

DNSSEC
IIJ Domain Service provides full DNSSEC support. When using IIJ’s DNS platform, zones are automatically signed and DS records are submitted to the registry without manual intervention. For domains using external DNS providers, IIJ also supports CDS/CDNSKEY-based automation to update DS records. This makes it a robust option for secure domain management with minimal operational overhead.
